About

The Jones Family

Representative Brandon Jones was elected to the Mississippi House of Representatives in 2007. Brandon works as a general practice attorney at the Law Offices of W. Harvey Barton in his hometown of Pascagoula, Mississippi.

During his short time in the House, Brandon has been a strong advocate for District 111 in Jackson, pushing for projects that will bring economic opportunity and meaningful insurance reform to the Gulf Coast. Brandon continues to work hard to create an Insurance Policyholder’s Bill of Rights. He has also proven to be a good friend to law enforcement, introducing legislation that would stiffen Mississippi’s laws dealing with cyber crime, identity theft and homeowner fraud. Brandon has also supported strong public schools by voting for the Mississippi Adequate Education Program and various initiatives under the Quality Education Act. His advocacy of these issues has resulted in the passage of many bills on the House floor and helped raise the awareness of problems facing Mississippians since Hurricane Katrina.

Brandon is the vice-chairman of the House Insurance Committee in addition to serving on the Education; Judiciary B; Judiciary En Banc; Oil, Gas and Other Minerals; Ports, Harbors and Airports; and Transportation committees.

Born in 1977 in Pascagoula, Brandon is the son of an accountant, Ed Jones, and a former school teacher, Mary Jones. Brandon attended public schools in Pascagoula prior to enrolling at Mississippi College where he was Student Government Association President and earned a B.A. in History and English. Mississippi College honored Brandon by inducting him into the Mississippi College Hall of Fame. After Mississippi College, Brandon attended Wake Forest University Divinity School where he was elected President of the Student Government Association and received a Master of Divinity degree. Following divinity school, Brandon enrolled at Mercer University School of Law where he was elected Moot Court Board Chairman, won the Lawson competition for oral advocacy and earned a law degree.

Brandon and his wife Laurie have one child, Ellen. The Joneses are active members of the First Presbyterian Church of Pascagoula where Brandon teaches Sunday School.
